Gypsophila Zine's background can be found on it's page under my publication projects, here. As for it's social media, I upkeep the website as well as an Instagram and Facebook page. The instagram page currently sits at just under 1.5k followers while the Facebook has just under 50 likes and followers (unfortunately). I do tend to focus more on Instagram and Instagram based graphics seeing as the writing community is more prominent on Instagram than on Facebook.
The goal is to post at least three times a week when sourcing submissions and promoting issues. It has been established through consistent practice that once submissions close, and all those who sent writing have been contacted, all socials go silent while I design the issue. As for the design behind social media posts, that is up to the art for each volume (i.e. Volume 1 was collage so most if not all the social graphics posted for that volume are collage based designs).
Community: Interactions within the community are great! Members of the writing and poetry online community help with the marketing of Gypsophila in three ways. (1) When writers are accepted they receive a graphic they can share to their own social media, this promotion is one of the two main ways we gain new followers. (2) When an issue is promoted, all writers included are tagged in both an Instagram feed post (when possible) and an Instagram story post promoting the issue drop, this is the second main way we gain new followers. (3) In early 2022, I began utilizing Instagram guides to promote writers as well as bring attention to Gypsophila as a community space. Through the "10 Prompt Lists to Help with Writers Block" guide, we showcase 10 instagram poets who have created prompt lists for each upcoming month—whether or not they've been featured in a previous Gypsophila issue or not. This not only brings new to us writers to our page through tagging and sharing their work but a majority of those we feature share the guide to their stories and many have gone on to submit to future issues of Gypsophila.
